‘Going nowhere’ - West Ham fans react to PL rivals reportedly lining up £9million swoop

By Derek Smithson

West Ham defender Winston Reid is reportedly attracting interest from Everton – and the club’s supporters have ruled out the possibility of selling him on Twitter.

The Mail claim that Everton are lining up a £9million offer for the centre-back as they want cover for the injured Ramiro Funes Mori.

It is understood that Reid is still under contract until 2021, but the Hammers could be tempted to listen to offers to redress their summer spending.

The 29-year-old is an important member in Slaven Bilic’s side and has now racked up 203 appearances for the Londoners.

He was an ever-present in the starting line-up last season and made 36 appearances across all competitions.

West Ham fans have made it clear that they don’t want Reid to leave the London Stadium this summer and have suggested that the reported £9million sum is far too low for someone of the defender’s qualities.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Reid is set to compete for a West Ham starting position as it stands going into the new season, with the likes of Angelo Ogbonna, Jose Fonte and James Collins also in contention.

The Hammers have been highly active so far in the summer by adding Joe Hart, Pablo Zabaleta, Marko Arnauotvic and Javier Hernandez to their squad.

However, one fan suggested all their hard work would be done if they sold Reid to Everton.

The New Zealand international is recognised as being one of West Ham’s most consistent players and managed to keep his levels high in a disappointing campaign last season.
