'Going to be huge' - Exclusive: Bruce dazzled by West Brom 24-yr-old who started today

Alex Bruce has been left raving over West Brom midfielder Filip Krovinovic and insists he has a huge part to play in the club’s promotion push.

The former Hull City defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, says the 24-year-old has shown his ability to be a “huge catalyst” for his side this season.

The attacking midfielder returned to the starting XI for the Baggies’ visit to Swansea City on Saturday, partnering Jake Livermore and Romaine Sawyers in the middle of the park.

He was one of a number of players left out the starting XI for the FA Cup defeat to Newcastle, coming on as a substitute in the second half.

Bruce says that it is clear Bilic has all sights set on getting promoted this season and that Krovinovic has a big part to play.

Bruce told Football Insider: “I’ve been very impressed by him, he’s been a huge catalyst, he’s done very well, creating opportunities, taking the ball and doing something with it.

“I think players like him are going to be huge. Slaven rested a lot of the players he plays in the league against Newcastle.

“It’s clear that his main focus is getting promotion this season and who can blame him.”

Krovinovic is on loan at West Brom from Portuguese giants Benfica, having played 28 times for his parent club.

The Croatian has made 34 appearances across all competitions for the Baggies, all but three of those coming in the Championship.

In other West Brom news, Bruce has been left in awe of another Baggies star who has really surprised him.
