Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has revealed that Odsonne Eduoard is likely to miss the Scottish Cup Final after he picked up a hamstring injury against Hearts on Sunday.

The 20-year-old has been in great form for the Bhoys in recent weeks, but Rodgers has admitted that he is going to be fit in time for the climax of the Scottish season against Motherwell on the 19th of May.

“He’ll struggle for next weekend. It’s been unfortunate really for him. He’s got better and better as the season has gone on. He’s probably going to struggle between now and the end of season” Rodgers said, as quoted on the Hoops’ official Twitter account.

Edouard has impressed for the Hoops in recent weeks, particularly in the 5-0 demolition of Rangers, and it will be a blow for the player and the team if he misses out on the cup final.

Football Insider verdict

This is very sad news for the on-loan from PSG striker, as it could be argued that his performance against Rangers in the 5-0 title winning match has made him the number one striker at the club, ahead of both Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths. But his injury has come at exactly the wrong time for the player, and Dembele and Griffiths will be out to show why they deserve to be ahead of Edouard in the pecking order. Of course, the fear for Hoops fans will be that Edouard will have played his last game for the Hoops, as he is set to return to PSG at the end of the season and as yet the Hoops have not agreed a permanent deal with the French champions for next season and beyond. Hoops fans will be desperately hoping that Eoduard stays with the club, as he has shown this season that he has a huge future ahead of him in the game.
