Goldson tipped to agree Rangers exit this month after source’s update – pundit

Connor Goldson will give his all for Rangers even if he agrees a move away from Ibrox this month.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the defender’s future.

A Rangers source has told Football Insider that Goldson, 29, has rejected a new contract and appears set to leave when his deal expires at the end of the season.

The defender is still a key player under Giovanni van Bronckhorst, starting all nine games the new boss has overseen.

Even if Goldson agrees a deal to leave Rangers this month, Kenny insists he still has a big role to play in the second half of the season.

“Listen, Goldson will give his all for Rangers,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He won’t be there next season by the looks of things but I don’t think that’s an issue. He could agree a move this month, I think.

“He’s a professional and I’m sure he will give his all for the club while he’s still there.

“Goldson needs to prove he’s worth signing and the best way for him to start life at a new club is by finishing his Rangers career on fire.

“I don’t think the fans need to worry about him not being committed. As long as he is a Rangers player he will give his all, I’m sure.”

The centre-back has played 193 times the Glasgow giants to date, with 31 appearances coming this season.

Van Bronckhorst also has Calvin Bassey, Leon Balogun, Jack Simpson, Filip Helander and new signing James Sands to call upon at centre-back.

In other news, Alex McLeish claims Rangers are set to “sacrifice” millions of pounds after Ibrox update.
