Former Rangers striker Martyn Waghorn has sent a message to former Ibrox team-mate Jordan Thompson after the former Manchester United youth confirmed he was leaving the Light Blues.
The Northern Irishman joined the Light Blues under Mark Warburton in 2015 but struggled to get regular game-time at Ibrox – spending the second-half of the season on loan with Livingston.
Thompson confirmed his Ibrox exit on Monday before Waghorn, now at Ipswich Town, sent him a message on Twitter wishing him the best after leaving his boyhood heroes.
“All the best Jord mate good luck for the future,” Waghorn said on his personal Twitter account.

Football Insider verdict:
Despite leaving Ibrox last year, Waghorn regularly mentions the Gers on social media and still seems to keep in touch with a number of his former team-mates. Although Thompson’s departure isn’t unexpected, the midfielder always looked like someone who has something to offer. After helping Livingston to promotion to the Scottish Premiership and being a regular in the Northern Irish Under-21s, it isn’t likely that Thompson will be without a club for too long. Despite only making limited appearances for the Gers during his time at Ibrox, the midfielder impressed when he was given a chance – as well as regularly being a stand-out in the Under-20s when he played but couldn’t force his way into the first-team despite spending so long on the fringes of the side. Loan spells with Raith Rovers, Airdrie and Livingston couldn’t help him win a first-team place at Ibrox but should have done enough to create some interest in him now he’s available to sign.
