Graham Potter, David Moyes: O’Rourke shares Wolves next manager update

Wolves have Graham Potter and David Moyes on their managerial shortlist should they decide to sack Gary O’Neil, sources have told Football Insider.

On the latest episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke shared that both Potter, 49, and Moyes, 61, are top contenders for the Wolves board as they assess their disappointing start to the Premier League season.

O’Neil’s side remain winless after their first nine league games, sitting in 19th with just two points and 25 goals conceded.

Football Insider revealed (November 1) that Wolves’ next two games against Crystal Palace and Southampton are pivotal for the 41-year-old’s future at the club.

It’s understood Wolves would prefer to bring in a manager with Premier League experience should they decide to pull the trigger on O’Neil’s tenure at the club.

Potter has been without a role since his departure from Chelsea in 2023, while Moyes has been out of work only a few months following his exit from West Ham at the end of last season.

Since they’re both currently unemployed, Wolves wouldn’t have to pay any kind of compensation fee should they decide to approach either of the two managers.

Moyes is regarded as a specialist in relegation battles, having steered his former club West Ham to safety after his return in the 2019-20 season.
