Graham Potter & David Moyes ‘waiting for the call from Leicester’

Graham Potter and Davies Moyes would both be interested in taking over from Steve Cooper at Leicester, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that both managers have been putting their names out in the media as they are ready to return to the Premier League.

Moyes has been out of work since leaving West Ham at the end of last season, while Potter has spent over a year out of the game since he was sacked by Chelsea in April 2023.

However, both are awaiting the right opportunity to jump back into management, and the ambitions and structure at Leicester are said to be an attractive prospect.

Meanwhile, the owners are also said to be willing to back a potential new manager and help the club as much as they can to survive in the Premier League.

O’Rourke also revealed that Potter had been close to taking over at the King Power but had second thoughts before Cooper later took the reins.

Graham Potter and David Moyes in line to take over from Steve Cooper at Leicester

Cooper has faced growing pressure on his job at the King Power after winning just two of their opening 11 games in the Premier League.

Football Insider revealed that the boss was a last-minute Jordan Ayew equaliser away from facing the sack after he was saved from defeat at Ipswich.

While there are concerns about the style of play and results, sources say figures behind the scenes are growing increasingly impatient.

It has also been said that the players are yet to buy into his style of play and have found the transition between Enzo Maresca and Cooper difficult to adapt to.

Following a defeat to Man United at Old Trafford, Leicester are 15th in the Premier League, ahead of Everton only by goal difference, and four points clear of the relegation zone.

With both Potter and Moyes out of work, they have also been linked with opportunities at Wolves and Southampton, which could push the club to act quickly should they decide they want to replace Cooper in the near future.
