Graham Potter has ‘come out publicly’ over plan as Rangers deal all but done
Graham Potter was sacked by West Ham last month after a dismal start to the Premier League season amid plenty of unrest at the London Stadium.
Potter was swiftly replaced by Nuno Espirito Santo, following his departure from Nottingham Forest, with the Hammers in a struggle at the wrong end of the league table.
During his 25-game spell in East London, he won just six games, drew five, and lost 14, averaging just 0.92 points per game as his side plummeted down the table.
Potter was surprisingly linked with the Rangers job in recent weeks, with the Ibrox club scrambling to replace Russell Martin after his dismissal.
However, Kevin Muscat is in advanced talks to take over at Rangers following discussions in the last 48 hours, and sources have told Football Insider today that a deal is now all but done.
The former Chelsea boss is considering a quick return to management despite his recent struggle at West Ham, and an “attractive” opportunity has now emerged.

Graham Potter among the front-runners for the Sweden job
Potter has been tipped to take over as Sweden boss following their decision to sack Jon Dahl Tomasson after picking up one point from four World Cup qualifying games.
The former West Ham manager is believed to be interested in the position after refusing to rule himself out of contention when asked in the Swedish media.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Potter is among the front-runners for the Sweden job thanks to his impressive CV, while he remains very highly regard in coaching circles and knows the country well.
Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, I explained: “Obviously Sweden have had a very disappointing World Cup qualifying campaign. That’s what’s led to Tomasson losing his job.
“Potter has managed in Sweden before and he’s obviously come out publicly and said he would be interested in the role and wouldn’t rule it out.
“It all depends on what Sweden want to do. He’s still got a very good CV and is still very highly regarded within coaching circles.
“Potter has got a connection with Sweden having managed there previously before coming back to the UK with Swansea and then Brighton as well.

“International football, if that’s where he feels he wants to take his next move in management, Sweden would be an attractive job because although they have struggled in these qualifiers, they have got a very talented squad.
“I’m sure there’ll be a number of candidates who’d be interested in that job.”
Former Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has also been tipped for the Sweden job, with a number of high-profile bosses believed to be in the running.
What Potter has said about taking ‘fantastic’ Sweden opportunity
The former West Ham manager managed Swedish side Ostersunds FK and enjoyed a wholly successful spell before making the move into English football.
As a result, Potter confessed he would be interested in the Sweden job, labelling it a “fantastic” opportunity for him to return to management in a country he loves.
Potter has since managed Swansea City, Brighton, Chelsea and West Ham, but has maintained close ties with the country in which he made his name as a manager.
In an interview with Fotbol Skanalen, he detailed: “I’m actually in Sweden right now… I’m between jobs and just left the Premier League. I’m open to anything, really, where I feel I can help. The job as the leader of the Swedish national team is fantastic.
“I have feelings for Sweden. I love the country, and I love Swedish football. I have a lot to be grateful for towards Swedish football. So yes, it would be a fantastic opportunity for me.”
