Graham Potter lands first job after West Ham sack, ‘It’s over for Isak and Gyokeres’
Graham Potter has secured a swift return to management, which could prove significant for two Premier League stars.
Potter was sacked by West Ham after months of poor results, and only one win to begin the 2025-26 campaign.
The former Chelsea and Brighton boss has endured a tough time since leaving the AMEX Stadium for Stamford Bridge in 2022.
Potter was a name in the running for the Rangers job, but the 50-year-old has decided against moving to Ibrox for a surprising career move instead.

Graham Potter announced as Sweden boss
Potter publicly stated he wanted the Sweden job after the Scandinavian nation sacked manager Jon Dahl Tomasson following a poor set of World Cup qualifying results.
Fans reacted to the news that Potter has only signed a contract with Sweden until March 2026, as announced by Fabrizio Romano on X [20 October].
“They are not going to any world cup… this just sealed it,” someone claimed after the announcement.
Potter will have the luxury of Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres and Liverpool‘s Alexander Isak in attack, but one posted on social media: “My condolences to Gyokeres and Isak.”
“How does this failed manager do it?,” was a question posed after the announcement.
Another also agreed: “How does this guy do it? Jobs just seem to be waiting for him!“
“He always gets new Job despite performing woefully in his previous job,” one claimed.
Another posted on social media: “Graham Potter again? The same man who flopped at Chelsea and couldn’t even last at West Ham? Sweden must be desperate! His CV lately looks like a list of early sackings — let’s hope they’ve got a backup plan before the World Cup starts.“
Sweden’s World Cup hopes on the brink
Potter inherits a Sweden side with just one point from four World Cup qualifying matches, despite Isak and Gyokeres leading their attack.
Sweden only have two games left, and are six points behind Kosovo in second place meaning a spot in the World Cup next year through qualifying is almost impossible.
It is a chance for Potter though to rebuild his reputation if he can secure two wins against Switzerland and Slovenia in the final two matches.
