Graham Roberts delivers emphatic Tottenham verdict on FA Cup clash against Chelsea
By Dominic Toner
Graham Roberts has revealed his confidence of Tottenham progressing against Chelsea in their FA Cup semi-final showdown.
The two London clubs will rekindle their rivalry in April as they meet in the semi-finals of the FA Cup at Wembley.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side cruised past League One side Millwall 6-0 in the quarter-finals, while Chelsea edged out Manchester United 1-0 on Monday night thanks to an N’Golo Kante winner.
They will now compete against each other for the third time this season and have both one a single game so far.
The victors of the all-London affair will face the winners of Manchester City and Arsenal from the other semi-final clash.
Ex-Spurs player Roberts has voiced his confidence ahead of facing Chelsea and believes their opponents will be nervous of the draw.
“We out played Chelsea in first half at there place and out played them at ours. Chelsea did not want to play us so look forward to winning,” Roberts wrote on his personal Twitter account.
Spurs’ rivalry against Chelsea reached new levels last season after they ended their chances of winning the Premier League title at the ‘Battle of the Bridge”, in which 12 yellow cards were produced.
Pochettino’s team were challenging Leicester for the league crown, but Chelsea’s win handed the Foxes the title.
The Blues recorded another win over the north London club this season back in November, but had to bounce back from going a goal down in the first-half.
Spurs did manage to get revenge by winning 2-0 against Chelsea in January and they completely out fought them, with Dele Alli’s headed goals securing the victory.
In other Tottenham news, the club’s 21-year-old has continued to impress during his loan spell at Stevenage.
