Graham Roberts: Every side in PL jealous of this Tottenham pair omitted from PFA team
By Matt Bullin
Tottenham Hotspur legend Graham Roberts has taken to Twitter to share his outrage that Spurs pairing Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen have been omitted from the PFA Premier League Team of the Year.
Both Alderweireld and Vertonghen have been key performers in Tottenham’s success this season and Roberts believes they deserved a place in the PFA’s XI.
Alderweireld has made 32 appearances in all competitions this term, while Vertonghen has featured 35 times.
They have both been at the heart of one of the best defences in the Premier League, which has seen Spurs keep 15 clean sheets in their 33 matches.
Roberts, who won two FA Cups and a UEFA Cup during his time at Tottenham took to his personal Twitter account to post the message about Spurs’ centre back pairing.

He said: “Jan and Toby [are the] best two centre halfs in the league by a mile every other team [is] jealous of them.”

Chelsea pairing David Luiz and Gary Cahill were the chosen centre backs in the PFA Team of the Year, as Spurs’ Belgian duo missed out.
However four of their Tottenham teammates did make it into the side, as Danny Rose, Kyle Walker, Dele Alli and Harry Kane all featured.
The rest of the team was made up by Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante and Eden Hazard, Liverpool’s Sadio Mane, Everton’s Romelu Lukaku and Man United’s David De Gea.
In other Tottenham news, Spurs fans have reacted on Twitter to the news their club might sign this £30million rated sensation.
