Graham Roberts has slammed Dean Ashton’s comments regarding Tottenham star Harry Kane on Monday, stating that he believes the striker is the best finisher in the Premier League.

Former England international Ashton told talkSPORT that Kane still has a lot of work to do to become one of the best and that he doesn’t do enough in the air like West Ham’s Andy Carroll.

However, Roberts, who played at Tottenham for six years between 1980 and 1986 took great offence to the words from Ashton and mocked Carroll on his personal Twitter account in the process by sharing that player sits on the bench for most of season due to injuries.

Kane, 23, has been in magnificent form for the north London club after breaking through the youth ranks in 2011.

He has gone on to play 152 times for the club, bringing a fantastic return of 83 goals and his scoring form shows no sign of slowing down with 19 of those goals coming from 25 matches in all competitions this season.

Meanwhile, Carroll’s record reads much worse with just 29 strikes from his 108 appearances for West Ham.

Tottenham fans will certainly hope Kane continues to prove his doubters like Ashton wrong as he has done throughout his career.
