Gravenberch and Van Dijk react to Frimpong’s new Liverpool message – ‘get this started’
Jeremie Frimpong is ready to “get this started” after his £29.5million transfer to Liverpool was completed.
Liverpool have wasted no time in strengthening Arne Slot‘s squad off the back of their Premier League title win in 2024–25, and have already addressed the exit of Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid.
Alexander-Arnold‘s departure left Slot without one of the world’s best right-backs, but Liverpool have been quick to replace him with another top-end full-back in the form of Bayer Leverkusen’s Frimpong.
Frimpong’s now-confirmed arrival at Anfield is set to be the first of many headline transfers Liverpool make this summer, and Leverkusen team-mate Florian Wirtz could soon follow him through the doors.

Frimpong ready to make Liverpool impact in new message
Liverpool were first on the scene to trigger Frimpong’s release clause at Leverkusen and as a result wrapped up the signing of one of the world’s best attacking right-backs in the transfer window’s infancy.
Frimpong joins a strong contingent of Dutch players at Anfield as well as another compatriot in Slot, and his close relationships with the likes of Ryan Gravenberch, Cody Gakpo and Virgil van Dijk have been key.
In a post on Instagram (1 June) after he signed his Liverpool contract, Frimpong said: “Seeing the smiles on the people you love means everything. Grateful and honoured to be a red. Let’s get this started”.
Van Dijk commented with a ‘raised hands’ emoji, while Gravenberch said: “Yesss lad”.
Frimpong to kick off Liverpool transfer spree
With Frimpong already through the doors, Liverpool are keen to address the other side of their defence and Mick Brown told Football Insider that a move for Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez is close to completion.
Kerkez was named in the Premier League’s fans’ team of the season after strong displays on the south coast, and is likely to provide a similar impact to Frimpong on the flanks of a revamped Liverpool rearguard.
As the Reds also close in on a club-record deal for Wirtz, Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota could soon find themselves on the outer at Anfield which will then open the door for Liverpool to pursue a number nine.
