'Great news', 'Brilliant' - Rangers fans thrilled as club legend announces new role

Rangers fans on social media are delighted after Peter Lovenkrands announced a new coaching role at Ibrox.

The former Gers striker announced on his personal Twitter account that he had signed a full time contract with the Light Blues to work as a coach for the reserve team.

Lovenkrands had previously been working as a coach for the Gers academy sides, but now he will be entrusted with helping players make the jump from reserve team to first-team football.

Unsurprisingly fans are delighted that a former Gers legend has returned to Ibrox in an official capacity, with one supporter going as far as to claim that the former Danish international will be a ‘great influence’ on the younger players.

Here are some of the best reactions from Twitter to the news of Lovenkrands’ appointment:

Lovenkrands’ appointment adds to the myriad of changes which have been taking place at Ibrox in recent weeks, with of course, the most notable being the appointment of Steven Gerrard as first-team manager.

It will be important for the Gers that Lovenkrands and Gerrard quickly establish a good relationship, as the Dane will be one of the men in charge of finding the next set of young players ready to follow in the footsteps of Ross McCrorie and make the leap to the Gers’ first-team.

If the pair get on well, then it all bodes well for the Gers’ future.
