Greg Taylor bids farewell after confirmed Celtic exit news

Greg Taylor took to social media to send a message to Kyogo Furuhashi after his confirmed move to French side Rennes.

Japan international Kyogo, 30, completed a reported £10million move to the French club, signing a two-and-a-half year deal after requesting to leave Celtic earlier in the season.

Celtic re-signed Portuguese winger Jota, 25, from Rennes in a separate deal, 18 months after he left the Scottish champions for Saudi Arabian side At Ittihad in a £25million deal.

Kyogo had been a key player for Brendan Rodgers before leaving the club, starting 24 of his 32 games across all competitions, scoring 12 goals, and providing four assists in his 2028 minutes of action.

The forward’s last appearance for Celtic came in their 1-0 Champions League win over Young Boys, and his last goal in the 2-0 Scottish Premier League win over Ross County.

Taylor, 27, has also been integral for Celtic this season, starting 25 of his 29 games across all competitions, scoring one goal, and providing six assists in his 2118 minutes of action.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of their game against Aston Villa, Rodgers confirmed Kieren Tierney is set to rejoin in the summer, threatening Taylor’s position.

Rodgers said: “Ideally it would [happen in January] but, at this moment, he’s still an Arsenal player. “I think everyone is agreed that it will definitely take place in the summer. If we can do it beforehand, then great.

The Scottish defender took to Instagram to respond to Kyogo’s emotional farewell message, simply saying: “Good luck.”

Rodgers’ side will travel south of the border for their final game of the new-look Champions League league phase against Aston Villa on Wednesday (January 29).

They will then turn their attention back to the Scottish Premier League with a trip to Motherwell on Sunday (February 2).
