Guglielmo Vicario, Van de Ven react to Lucas Bergvall announcement at Tottenham

Lucas Bergvall’s latest news at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium gained the attention of multiple of his star teammates.

The young Swede has made an incredible impact since arriving in North London last summer, going on to make 45 appearances and becoming quite an important cog in the Spurs lineup.

Ange Postecoglou is under severe pressure at Tottenham, which might not even diminish if his side lifts the Europa League this season, but that will not stop his players from putting their bodies on the line.

Bergvall is a true example of that. However, at just 19 years of age, he is still learning and making mistakes, but the fans have been incredibly supportive, and he is clearly happy to stay.

Via Instagram (29 April), the official Spurs account wrote: “We are delighted to announce that Lucas Bergvall has signed a new contract with the club, which will run until 2031.”

The post immediately gained likes from goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, as well as star centre-back Micky van de Ven.

If Daniel Levy refuses to fold to the supporters’ calls for the manager to be sacked, he will need to back Postecoglou as soon as the summer transfer window opens, if that is even possible.

The Australian has shown his openness to giving chances to young stars, Bergvall being one of them, alongside Archie Gray, Mikey Moore and Wilson Odobert.

Of course, a barrage of injuries has played a part in that, with the manager sometimes being forced into these types of changes, but seeing them develop and flourish has been one of the only positive signs this term.

However, with Cristian Romero linked with a Tottenham exit, and so too Sergio Reguilon, Yves Bissouma, and Richarlison, it could be quite the summer of change ahead for the Lilywhites.

Based on the current season, and Spurs sitting 16th in the Premier League table, it will be argued that a change in experienced figures is a must during the summer transfer window.
