Guillem Balague delivers Tottenham verdict on Kane, reveals Spanish stance
By Dominic Toner
Sky Sports’ Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has revealed that Harry Kane is considered to be a top striker, but there have been no approaches made by either Barcelona or Real Madrid.
The 23-year-old has emerged as one of the best young forwards in Europe after breaking into the first-team at Spurs.
The England international has scored 22 goals in just 27 appearances this season and some fans have feared he could leave White Hart Lane for a European heavyweight.
However, Balague has eased any fears that Kane could exit and stated that Spain’s heavyweights Barcelona and Real Madrid are already content with their attacking options.
The pundit also believes the forward is becoming a star after his manager Mauricio Pochettino described him as world-class.

“Harry Kane is considered a top striker,” Balague told Sky Sports. “He has not been approached by Barcelona or Real Madrid, not yet anyway – it doesn’t mean at some point that he won’t be – but he has not been approached because with Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez, there is no point in bringing in another centre-forward for either of them.
“When talking about a player with his behaviour and consistency, I agree with Mauricio Pochettino that he is becoming one of the world’s best striker.”
Kane pledged his long-term future to the north London club in December and is set to stay until 2022.
The striker has graduated through the club’s academy and is now the first-choice striker under Pochettino.
He is currently the joint-highest (17) Premier League goalscorer this season and is looking to win the golden boot for a second consecutive year.
Spurs fans can be understood for being worried about European heavyweights pinching their players in their prime, with Gareth Bale and Luka Modric both leaving the club for Real Madrid in the past.
In other Tottenham news, these two academy players stood out for the youth team.
