Balague: Liverpool eye big-money La Liga star with 53 caps, reportedly available in summer
By Danny Wright
Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has revealed that Liverpool are keen on Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez.
However he also said that a move to Chelsea or bitter rivals Manchester United is more likely to materialise
He reported that English and Italian clubs have already made offers to the Galactico.
The Evening Standard previously reported that Real Madrid would be prepared to sell the striker and he hasn’t made much of an impact at the Bernabeu this season.
The Metro reported recently that Real Madrid are now actively looking to sell Rodriguez in the summer.

The 25-year-old La Liga ace has made 24 appearances in all competitions for Real, but most of them have been from the bench.
Balague believes that Liverpool realise they might be out of their depth if they decide to make a serious attempt at signing Rodriguez.
When asked if the Merseyside club are keen on the Colombian international, Balague said in his column on the Sky Sports website: “Of course they are, but they aren’t the only one. Liverpool are realistic and I think they realise James is looking for a different type of team.
“But he is leaving the door open to all possibilities because he knows Real Madrid want to get rid of him. He would like to go to a club like Chelsea or Manchester United and he has offers from England and Italy but we will have to wait and see.”
Real Madrid signed Rodriguez from Monaco for a staggering £63million in 2014, following an impressive performance at the World Cup in Brazil which saw him win the Golden Boot and goal of the tournament awards.
He has made 102 appearances for Real across all competitions, scoring 30 goals and providing 40 assists.
Liverpool are desperate to make big improvements to their squad in the summer with a host of players being liked with moves to Anfield.
Despite the Reds’ poor defensive form throughout the campaign, Jurgen Klopp seems eager to make serious additions to his attacking force.
Football Insider Verdict
Balague’s response to the question about Rodriguez is probably what a lot of Liverpool fans feel. Of course they want him – who wouldn’t? But there has to be a sense of realism in the club’s transfer dealings this summer otherwise they can find themselves spending too much time chasing players that are above their reach. Securing Champions League football for next year is a must as without it Liverpool will begin to see other targets slip through their fingers. At the moment, Klopp is the biggest pulling factor to the club as Liverpool don’t have the money, the reputation or the glamour they once boasted.
In other Liverpool news, a Sky Sports pundit thinks that this senior star will exit the club in the summer.
