Guillem Balague has revealed that Arsenal are not interested in signing Real Madrid playmaker Isco.

The Daily Mail report that Isco has put a number of Premier League teams on alert by admitting he is considering leaving Madrid in the summer, with Tottenham understood to be big admirers.

It is understood that Spurs tried to sign the attacking midfielder on loan last summer and have now been put on high alert by his situation.

Sky Sports’ Spanish correspondent Balague claims that Arsenal have never been interested in signing the 24-year-old and will not be pursuing his signature, as cited by his official Twitter account.

Isco has enjoyed a successful spell with Madrid since he joined in 2013 from fellow La Liga club Malaga.

The attacker, who is best suited to the number 10 role behind the striker, has racked up 178 appearances for Madrid.

He has failed to cement a starting position this campaign for the Spanish giants, but has still managed six goals and six assists in 29 appearances.

Football Insider verdict:

Arsenal’s decision not to pursue a move for Isco could be seen as a boost for Spurs, who are keen to sign the Spaniard. However, there is set to be a long queue if the attacking midfielder does decide to leave the Bernabeu in the summer transfer window. The north London club are likely to have a strong appeal, with manager Mauricio Pochettino one of the most highly rated managers in Europe. Spurs are also on course to qualify for the Champions League and could give Isco his first ever tasted of Premier League football. The 24-year-old has never played out of his homeland, but have proved during his spell in Spanish football what a creative player he can be. Isco would be able to boost Spurs’ attacking options and would be a dream for Harry Kane to have in the team.
