Gunners idol thrilled by 'brilliant' update on Arsenal beating Aston Villa to Buendia signing

Kevin Campbell has told Arsenal to pay Norwich the £30million-plus they want for Emiliano Buendia this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the Gunners idol urged technical director Edu not to “mess around” when it comes to the “brilliant” 24-year-old.

Norwich have indicated they will reluctantly let their star attacker leave in the next transfer window if their asking price of £30million-plus is met.

Football Insider understands Aston Villa have opened preliminary talks over signing the Argentine but face stiff competition from Arsenal, who had an enquiry knocked back in January.

Buendia was voted Championship player of the year earlier this month after a remarkable campaign which yielded 15 goals and 17 assists for the Canaries.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs if the Gunners should splash £30million-plus on Buendia, Campbell said:“Get it done.

“Go and buy him, do not mess around. I don’t want us to mess around with this one.

“He is a brilliant player who can score and create. He already has Premier League experience and I thought he did very well. He just did not have a team around him that was strong enough.

“Arsenal need to sort out the top end of the pitch. Buendia is young enough and good enough so I do not want to see any messing around.

“£30million? Brilliant. Listen, just pay it. You’ve got to pay for the best Championship players. Norwich want some bang for their buck. Premier League clubs know they have to pay a premium on Championship players sometimes. Let’s get him in early.”
