'Gutted' - Celtic fans react as massive injury blow confirmed ahead of clash v Bayern

By James Black

Celtic winger Patrick Roberts has been ruled out of the Hoops’ clash with Bayern Munich on Tuesday night – and fans are distraught.

The winger faces up to six weeks on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock.

Roberts has been a mainstay in Brendan Rodgers’ side after returning to Celtic for a second loan spell and his absence against Bayern will be a huge blow for the Scottish champions.

Roberts’ enforced absence will almost certainly mean a start for James Forrest against the Bavarian giants at Celtic Park – but fans are sad to see Roberts missing out.

Roberts returned to Celtic shortly before the transfer window closed after spending an initial 18 months on loan with the Hoops.

The winger has made 10 appearances so far this season, scoring once, and has struggled to replicate the form he showed last season as Brendan Rodgers’ side went an entire domestic season without defeat.

Celtic have had their fair share of injury concerns this season with a number of key players missing important games after picking up muscle injuries.

Roberts should return just in time for the hectic festive schedule and the final Old Firm clash of 2017 on December 30th.

In other Celtic news, Chris Sutton has been critical of his Hoops fan favourite, comparing him to a £52million Premier League player.
