Former Liverpool man Didi Hamann is convinced that Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers would be the perfect man for the job at Premier League side Leicester City.
The Foxes recently sacked Craig Shakespeare following a disappointing start to the campaign, with the team in the relegation zone.
Caretaker boss Michael Appleton guided Leicester to their first league victory on the road with a 2-1 win against Swansea City on the weekend.
However, ex-Reds midfielder Hamann believes that the Premier League outfit must do everything within their power to secure Rodgers as their new man in charge.
“Leicester should go for Brendan Rodgers,” he told the Scottish Sun.
“He has done a fine job at Celtic, but the defeats by Paris St Germain and Bayern Munich have shown him that he can go no further.
“The gulf between the best in Scotland and the best in Europe is immense.
“His record at Liverpool more than stands comparison with Jurgen Klopp and he could definitely get Leicester into the top half.”
Although it will be an extremely difficult task for Rodgers to replicate Claudio Ranieri’s success at the King Power Stadium, he has already shown that he can work wonders at Celtic.
Rodgers guided the Hoops to a memorable treble during his debut campaign in Scotland and his side have now extended their unbeaten run in domestic competitions to 60 matches.
Celtic are right on track to pick up more silverware after beating Hibernian 4-2 at Hampden Park in the League Cup semi-final on Saturday afternoon.
The Hoops will meet Motherwell in the final after they picked up a surprise victory against Celtic’s bitter rivals Rangers on Sunday.
