Hannah Hampton reacts as major WSL transfer finalised
Leicester City Women have confirmed the signing of Alisha Lehmann from Italian side Como.
The Switzerland international has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Foxes, as she returns to the WSL1 for the first time since departing Aston Villa in 2024.
The 27-year-old striker will now be looking to pull Leicester away from the relegation playoff zone, with the East Midlands side currently ninth, five points clear of bottom-placed Liverpool.
Before her time at the Birmingham outfit, Lehmann had previously played for West Ham and Everton, with the attacker helping to guide the Hammers to a FA Cup final in 2019.
As a result of the transfer, many players have reacted to the news, including England star Hannah Hampton.

Hannah Hampton reacts as Leicester City announce Alisha Lehmann transfer
Plenty of teams in the WSL1 have been active in recent weeks.
Recently, West Ham Women confirmed the signing of Estelle Cascarino, with Lehmann reacting to this transfer.
Man City have also been making moves in the hope of winning the WSL1 title.
Now, the addition of Lehmann at the Foxes will be considered a significant coup, with the attacker playing for Juventus only last season where she won the Serie A and Coppa Italia.
Upon announcing the transfer on Leicester’s Instagram on 22 January, many players were quick to react to the news.
This includes Hampton, with the England star previously playing with Lehmann at Aston Villa.
The Chelsea goalkeeper simply responded to the post with a like.
What has Lehmann said about signing for Leicester?
While Leicester’s men’s side are scrambling to keep hold of their star players this month to boost their promotion hopes, this clearly is not an issue for the women’s team.
Lehmann was overjoyed to have joined Leicester and return to the WSL1.
Her time in Italy didn’t go as planned, with the attacker struggling for minutes at the Old Lady before she moved to Como in the summer.
As a result, she will now be aiming to get her career back on track in the WSL1, where she previously shone for Aston Villa.

Talking to Leicester City on 22 January, Lehmann expressed her delight that she was back in England and playing for the Foxes.
She said: “It feels amazing and I’m so happy to be here. It feels like a homecoming, coming back to England, and I’m really happy.
“Leicester is an amazing club. I’ve seen the training ground and, of course, the stadium. They want to push women’s football forward.”
