Hannibal Mejbri: Rangers transfer update today – sources
Rangers’ pursuit of Man United midfielder Hannibal Mejbri has become more difficult after failing to qualify for the Champions League group stage, sources told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Mejbri, 21, would need Champions League football to persuade him to make the move to Scotland.
Football Insider revealed (August 16) that Mejbri will only leave Old Trafford on a permanent basis this summer with the Premier League club keen to re-invest his potential fee.
The Scottish club now face competition from more financially capable clubs in the English Championship as well as arch-rivals Celtic for the Tunisia international’s signature.
Rangers move for Hannibal Mejbri looking unlikely
Mejbri broke into the Man United first team back in 2021 but has struggled to hold down a spot with only 13 appearances and one goal.

Mejbri spent the second half of last season on loan at Spanish club Sevilla but failed to score or provide an assist in his six appearances at the club.
Rangers will have to sell before buying in the last week of the transfer window and are keen to offload a number of players.
Football Insider revealed (August 20) that Leeds United are readying a bid for Wales winger Rabbi Matondo.
