'Hard to keep defending him' - Exclusive: Noel Whelan fumes over one Leeds player
Noel Whelan admits that he is tearing his hair out over Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford after his lack of goals in recent weeks.
The former Whites forward and boyhood fan at Elland Road, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, insists the hard-working 26-year-old is passing up too many golden opportunities in the box.
Bamford, who last scored against Millwall in late January, drew another blank against Hull City on Saturday, playing 66 minutes before being replaced by Tyler Roberts.

Whelan has applauded the former Middlesbrough man for the work he does around the box but insists his finishing leaves much to be desired.
“It’s hard to keep defending him, he does great work outside the box, bringing others into play but when you get chances like that you’ve got to bury them,” Whelan told Football Insider.
“He’s doing everything required outside of the box but unfortunately, as a number nine, when the chances are coming your way you’ve got to put them in the back of the net.

“That’s the side of the game that he’s not doing it. It’s the hardest job in the world, putting the ball in the back of the net and scoring goals, but these aren’t difficult chances.
“I’ve got to expect him, even though he’s not been the most prolific throughout his career, to be hitting the back of the net with those chances because it’s crucial.”
Bamford has netted 12 goals in his 35 Championship runouts this season, but he is currently on a run of seven games without hitting the back of the net.
His went 10 matches between goals back between August and November, Bielsa keeping faith despite having Eddie Nketiah on the bench.
In other Leeds United news, it can be REVEALED the club are working on a transfer deal which can be sealed for £5million.
