Harry Amass: Update on Sheffield Wednesday deal and Man United’s next move
Sheffield Wednesday are still pushing to secure an extension to their loan agreement over Harry Amass, sources have told Football Insider.
The left-back is set to return to Old Trafford with his initial loan spell due to expire imminently, but the Owls are desperate to try and extend his stay until the end of the season.
Football Insider revealed last week that Stoke City have made contact with Manchester United over Amass, and sources have now suggested that there are several other Championship clubs who are also showing an interest in the starlet.
United are considering the next move for Amass, who has already made it clear that he has enjoyed his time at his current loan club.
A move to a club competing at the top end of the Championship is seen as a possibility, but it is understood that “all options are open” for both Amass and his parent club at the moment.
Success of Sheffield Wednesday loan to appeal to Man United
Amass’ loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday has been a huge success, and that hasn’t gone amiss at Old Trafford, where there are plans to hand him a new contract.
The 18-year-old has started in 21 of the South Yorkshire outfit’s 25 Championship games so far this season, and he has quickly become one of the first names on the team sheet under Henrik Pedersen.
Amass has completed the full 90 minutes in all bar three of those appearances, and has even added a goal and an assist since the start of the campaign.
The starlet earned starts in the Premier League against Wolves, Brentford and West Ham in the latter stages of the 2024-25 campaign, and it is clear that he is held in extremely high regard at Manchester United.

The Red Devils are keen to see him tested at the highest possible level, but the success of the defender’s stint at Hillsborough is sure to come under consideration when choosing his next steps.
Ruben Amorim left Man United fans fuming with Harry Amass comments
Manchester United fans were seething with Ruben Amorim after his comments on Amass during a press conference back in December.
The Portuguese called out the performances of Amass and his fellow loanee Toby Collyer, who has recently been recalled from his stint at West Brom.
The now departed boss insisted that Amass was “struggling” in the Championship, despite the fact that he picked up back-to-back Player of the Month awards at Sheffield Wednesday in November and December.
Their supporters have since got their wish with Amorim being removed from his duties on Monday, and they were quick to show support for the pair of youngsters on social media.
Sheffield Wednesday fans have shown similar praise towards the loanee during his time with their club, and they will be desperate to see him continue with them in the second half of the campaign.
