Harry Kane and Van Dijk respond to Son Heung-Min’s passionate Tottenham message

Son Heung-Min was ecstatic in his message to the Tottenham fans following the side’s Europa League triumph over Man United.

Ange Postecoglou kept his promise of delivering silverware in his second season, as Tottenham lifted the Europa League on 21 May to end a 17-year trophy drought.

Brennan Johnson wrote his name into club history after his decisive touch led to the only goal of the match, sealing a 1-0 win over Man United.

Meanwhile, Son surpisingly didn’t start the final, with Richarlison preferred on the left, but made his entrance in the second half and was ultimately handed the honour of lifting the trophy, which was an emotional moment for the club captain.

Plenty of current and former players shared their celebrations, including Gareth Bale, who sent a message to the Tottenham fans. But Son had a message of his own, reflecting the pride and emotion of the occasion.

Son Heung-Min sends jubilant message amid Spurs fan frustration

The South Korea international has endured a below-par campaign by his usual standards, with some Tottenham fans expressing frustration over Son’s performances this season.

But the mood has now shifted, with Son bursting with joy in an Instagram post after lifting Tottenham’s first trophy in 17 years.

He wrote: “C H A M P I ON S !!!!!!! COME ON YOU SPURRSSSSSS”

The Spurs skipper received an outpouring of support in the comments, including from former teammate and club legend Harry Kane, who said: “Congratulations brother!” Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk also joined in with a simple applause emoji.

Current teammates were equally proud, with Micky van de Ven replying “legend” and Dominic Solanke adding “You did it”.

Postecoglou surprised many by benching Son for the final, opting instead for Richarlison, who delivered a strong performance. In the end, the decision paid off.

Champions League qualification gives Tottenham major transfer boost

One significant reward from winning the Europa League is automatic qualification for next season’s Champions League.

Despite a difficult domestic campaign as they are currently 17th in the Premier League and suffered 25 defeats across all competitions, the club have secured a spot in Europe’s elite competition.

That qualification could prove crucial in the transfer market. Football Insider revealed Tottenham are keen on Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze, and their European status may now strengthen their case.

Following the club’s recent triumph, the prospect of a move to North London could be a far more attractive proposition for the England international.
