Harry Kane backed to agree Tottenham deal as expert reveals ‘they’re on the right track’

Frank McAvennie has suggested recent improvements at Tottenham will encourage Harry Kane to sign a new deal.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said Kane will want to “win something” at Spurs.

According to the Daily Mail (5 September), Bayern Munich have urged the 29-year-old to “hold off” on signing a new deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The German club are said to be interested in offering the England international a transfer next summer.

Bayern were said to be keen on a move for the striker this summer but it did not materialise.

Kane’s current contract expires in 2024.

McAvennie suggested the England captain will want to stay and win a trophy with Spurs.

Now that they’re competing in the Champions League and in the Premier League he’ll stay,” he told Football Insider.

I think he’s a Tottenham fan. Players are all about money now, I don’t think Harry’s got that, I don’t think he’s got a problem with money now. I’ve got medals in my cabinet, he doesn’t and that’s what you want, you want to win something.

They got [Antonio] Conte, that was a magnificent start, and he’s got them playing well now. He’s got them playing with a bit of confidence and playing a style that Harry will like. That might be the sway.

Harry will just want to play football but he’s a Tottenham boy and he sees that they’re trying. I’ve got a wee feeling that he’ll stay. Records are great but you need that winners medal and that’s what he’ll be wanting and I believe Harry Kane deserves that. They’re on the right track and that might sway him on side.
