Harry Kane backed to sign ‘lifetime’ Tottenham contract after latest – pundit

Kevin Campbell has urged the “good business people” at Tottenham to sign Bayern Munich target Harry Kane up “for life”.

The former Arsenal striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 28-year-old would be putting Spurs in a “precarious position” by refusing to sign a deal in the next year.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano (10 July), Tottenham want to open talks over a new contract with Kane – with the club considering him an “untouchable”.

As quoted by German outlet Bild (17 July), Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn has branded a deal for Kane “a dream of the future” as they look to replace Barcelona-bound hitman Robert Lewandowski.

The Bavarian giants have been linked with a swoop for the England striker next summer (2023) – when he will have just 12 months remaining on his deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

When asked if Kane could run his contract down until next summer, Campbell told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury: “I wouldn’t like to see that.

“If he goes to a year left, then the club are in a precarious position – let’s be honest.

“There are good business people everywhere at Spurs – and they know what they need to do.

“If Harry Kane is going to stay, and there are probably talks going on in the background, then sign him up for life.”

Kane’s England teammate Raheem Sterling recently joined Chelsea after running his Man City deal down to its final year.
