Harry Kane ‘gets away with things others don’t’ as Tottenham controversy analysed – Campbell

Kevin Campbell has claimed Tottenham striker Harry Kane “gets away with things others don’t” after the North London derby.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Arsenal and Everton goalscorer suggested referees and the media are lenient with Kane, 29, because he is the England captain.

Spurs lost 3-1 to Arsenal at the Emirates on Saturday (1 October).

As shown on Twitter (3 October), Kane left a leg in on Gabriel Magalhaes in the second half of the clash.

The Spurs captain was frustrated after fouling the Gunners defender by the corner flag.

When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of the second-half incident at the Emirates, Campbell said: “Listen, Harry Kane is the England captain.

“There is certain things he gets away with that others don’t. People accept that. We have seen it happen in the past.

“As a centre-forward, you have to be able to handle yourself. You are in the trenches when you play up front.

“If you can get a little dig in on your opponent you have got to try and do it. Trust me, they will be doing the same to him.

“I do not think there was much in it. It was just a centre-forward putting himself about in a game. You have to let the defenders know that you are there.”
