Harry Kane preparing for Bayern exit, Premier League clubs on high alert
Harry Kane could be set to return to the Premier League despite his fantastic form for Bayern Munich.
Kane scored 36 goals in his first season in Germany’s top flight but Bayern Munich were denied a 12th straight Bundesliga title due to Bayer Leverkusen’s invincible season in 2023/24.
During his second season Kane netted 26 goals as Bayern regained the Meisterschale, and Kane has started this season with the same momentum, scoring three goals in the champions’ opening two games.
Kane moved to Germany’s record champions from Tottenham Hotspur in a deal worth an initial £82 million, and his time in the Bundesliga may be nearing an end.

Harry Kane prepares for Premier League return
Reports have begun to suggest that Kane may be looking to move away from Bavaria in the summer of 2026, with many touting England’s record goalscorer with a return to the Premier League.
German football expert Raphael Honigstein discussed the reports with talkSPORT [September 5], saying: “It’s not a story we’ve seen a lot of recently in Germany, I don’t think it’s any secret that people in Germany don’t expect Harry Kane to see out his career at Bayerm necessarily.
“There was always a chance, Bayern are embraced for the possibility that he will leave slightly before his contract, that runs until 2027 [ends] I think one way or the other he and the club need to take a view on this.
“The fact that they [Bayern] were pushing for someone who can be a back up, or an understudy for Kane, they looked at [Benjamin] Sesko, they looked at [Nick] Woltemade,” he continued.
“They ended up with [Nicolas] Jackson with a soft obligation to buy, suggests that Bayern are aware of the possibility that Kane might go in a year or two.
“They need to prepare for the future slightly, but at the same time, he is so good, that anyone who comes in, and I’d put Jackson firmly in that bracket will have to play around Kane rather than compete.
“There’s absolutely no chance that Jackson will be able to displace Kane, he will have to play alongside him or ahead of him or give Kane the occassional breather when he misses a game or two, but he is very much there to be his backup and maybe eventually his successor but we’re still quite far off that.”

Harry Kane could return and cement his legacy as the Premier League’s best striker
Football Insider verdict
Kane left Tottenham without the legacy that he so wished, having struggled to build on the successes he enjoyed under Mauricio Pochettino when the club finished second and came runners-up in the Champions League.
Kane scored 213 Premier League goals across his 11 seasons in England’s top flight and a return would surely see him break Alan Shearer’s goalscoring record.
Season | Goals |
2012-13 | 0 |
2013-14 | 3 |
2014-15 | 21 |
2015-16 | 25 |
2016-17 | 29 |
2017-18 | 30 |
2018-19 | 17 |
2019-20 | 18 |
2020-21 | 23 |
2021-22 | 17 |
2022-23 | 30 |
Kane would need 48 more goals to break Shearer’s record and at 32 years of age (33 in 2026) the former Tottenham forward would have time on his side, to catch Shearer.
A suitor for England’s greatest ever goalscorer isn’t forthcoming at current, but there’s a long 12 months ahead, where anything could happen that may lead to a potential move for Kane.
