‘Harry Maguire not with Man United squad in America’
Ruben Amorim will be without centre-back Harry Maguire as Man United travel out to America to continue their pre-season preparations.
The Red Devils are set to jet out to the US for the Premier League Summer Series alongside Everton, West Ham, and Bournemouth, having already faced Leeds United in Sweden on Saturday, 19 July.
Bryan Mbeumo has recently joined the squad from Brentford, joining Diego Leon and Matheus Cunha, while the likes of Alejandro Garnacho, Tyrell Malacia, Antony, and Jadon Sancho are being left at home.
Marcus Rashford, the fifth member of the “bomb squad” at Old Trafford, is set to finally join Barcelona on a season-long loan, but Amorim has no control over the latest absence from his squad.
Maguire, who made a total of 40 appearances across all competitions last term, will not be joining the squad over in Chicago, with an update now being revealed on why that is.

Harry Maguire stays at Man United jet out
Taking to X (22 July), The Telegraph’s James Ducker wrote: “Garnacho, Sancho, Antony & Malacia all omitted from Man United’s 32-man tour squad leaving for Chicago today.
“Harry Maguire stays behind due to a personal matter. United are hoping he’ll join at a later date, while Lisandro Martinez is travelling, but not yet ready to train.”
Adding to the information on X, the Daily Mail’s Nathan Salt revealed that due to the late reshuffle, youngster Ethan Williams has been given the call-up to the first team, though it is not clear who he is replacing.

Football Insider verdict
Amorim is already under pressure at Man United despite only leaving his role at Sporting CP in November, and only a single winter transfer window under his belt.
Opinions are still split on the amount of money spent on Mbeumo’s signature, but with Tottenham and Newcastle United also after the winger, an auction was always going to occur this summer.
Given the achievements by the Red Devils over the years, supporters are growing restless from the lack of trophies and titles, which leaves new managers very little time to impress or turn their fortunes around.

The 40-year-old, however, is being backed in the summer transfer market, with two huge deals already sealed for Mbeumo and Cunha, but some exits need to be confirmed before anymore business is done.
Mick Brown told Football Insider that Antony’s future is written on the walls at Man United, with the winger likely to be gone by the time the 2025/26 campaign kicks off next month.
The likes of Andre Onana, Mason Mount, Kobbie Mainoo, and Rasmus Hojlund are also being linked with exits, but the manager now appears to be shaping the squad more to his liking.
