Harry Maguire sends Man United message after defensive breakthrough
Harry Maguire has sent Man United fans a message following the role he played in their closely fought 1-0 win against Fulham on Sunday (26 January).
The 20-time champions secured three points at Craven Cottage following a goal from Lisandro Martinez in the 78th minute.
United left things late to take the lead against Fulham, but the win helped push them to just four points of the Londoners and the top half of the table.
Ruben Amorim’s men secured only their eighth victory of the season as the team progressed into 12th position, and a lot of that was down to the defensive performance.
United have struggled at the back this season and have conceded 28 goals, with the club having failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 13 games across all competitions.
Their 4-0 win against Everton on 1 December was the last time that United kept a clean sheet, making Sunday’s performance against Fulham a particularly special one for the defensive unit.

The England international played a key part in that, and he was the most accurate passer to play 45 minutes of more within the match.
Maguire made six clearances, two interceptions, three recoveries, and one last man tackle in what was a strong performance from the 31-year-old.
The former United captain took to Instagram to celebrate the win by saying, “Taking 3 points back to Manchester.”
Maguire has been a regular feature in the United lineup under Amorim, only missing one Premier League game since he took charge due to injury.
United will be back in action on Thursday (30 January) against FCSB in the Europa League.
