Harry Maguire sends message to Man United fans after ‘cheating s***house’ claim

Man United defender Harry Maguire has taken to social media to send a message to the fans after the incident with Arsenal forward Kai Havertz in their FA Cup penalty win over Arsenal on Sunday (January 12).

The 31-year-old was replaced Leny Yoro in added time, having given Arsenal the chance to take the lead from the penalty spot in the 70th minute.

Captain Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring just after half-time with a lovely curling effort from a storming run by Alejandro Garnacho.

Shortly after the opener, Diogo Dalot was given his marching orders, picking up a second yellow card after a rash challenge on Arsenal midfielder Mikel Merino.

Gabriel bagged the equaliser just two minutes after Dalot’s sending-off, scoring on the half-volley after both Altay Bayindir and Kobbie Mainoo failed to deal with Gabriel Martinelli’s cross.

Arsenal were given the opportunity to take the lead from the penalty spot after Kai Havertz went down after minimal contact from Maguire.

The incident sparked a mass brawl between Man United and Arsenal players, with Ruben Amorim’s side believing the German went down a little too easy.

Maguire was visibly angered by Havertz’s apparent ease in going to ground, with television replays capturing the United defender shouting, “You cheating s***house,” at the Arsenal forward.

Thankfully for the England international, Bayindir had more than enough to save Martin Odegaard’s tame effort, diving to the bottom left and comfortably saving.

After full-time, the score remained 1-1. Extra time came and went, and the game went to penalties, ending 3-5 to Man United, with Kai Havertz missing the only spot-kick.

Man United earn FA Cup progression despite Harry Maguire mistake

The centre-back has seen somewhat of a resurgence under Ruben Amorim, starting 13 of his 18 games across all competitions, scoring one goal, and providing zero assists in his 1164 minutes of action.

672 of those minutes have come since Amorim took over, with Maguire seemingly his first choice at the heart of his three-man defence.

Maguire was clearly delighted with his side’s win over Arsenal, taking to Instagram to share images from the game and say: “Sunday afternoons in the FA Cup.”

Amorim’s attention will return to the Premier League on Thursday (January 16) as they seek to end their four-game winless streak against Southampton.

United are currently sat in 13th going into the game with Southampton, with just 23 points from their 20 league games.
