Harry Maguire couldn’t resist a cheeky comment for James Maddison after the midfielder posted an update following his recent England and Tottenham omissions.
Maddison found himself left out of Thomas Tuchel’s first England squad, as the new manager secured victories over Albania and Latvia without the Tottenham playmaker.
This followed his misfortunes at club level, where there have been suggestions that Maddison and Ange Postecoglou have fallen out in recent weeks. These rumours only grew louder after Maddison was dropped from the starting lineup for Tottenham’s latest defeat to Fulham.
Despite the recent challenges, the midfielder still managed to keep a positive outlook and posted an update on Instagram.

The 28-year-old has been keeping himself occupied during the international break by taking a short holiday. He shared a video of himself playing football, captioning it: “Speaking the language of football with young lads who just love the beautiful game.”
In the video, Maddison attempts a slide tackle but misses the ball completely, prompting Maguire to jokingly comment: “Stay on your feet.”
Other players also reacted to the post, including Jude Bellingham, Djed Spence, and Ben Chilwell, all of whom enjoyed the lighthearted moment.
For Tottenham fans, the hope is that the midfielder can recharge during this time off and fight to regain his place as a regular starter in the team.
However, over his last 10 Premier League appearances, he has only started three games, fuelling further speculation about his relationship with manager Postecoglou.
Although Maddison has faced criticism for some of his performances this season, his impact remains undeniable. In 38 appearances, he has scored 11 goals and provided seven assists, with nine of those goals coming in the league.
