Harry Maguire tipped to quit Man United after source’s Aston Villa transfer update today – pundit

Paul Robinson has backed Harry Maguire to quit Man United amid interest from the likes of Aston Villa.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one suggested the 29-year-old is surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.

Maguire has started just once for Erik ten Hag’s side since the World Cup.

Aston Villa have shown an interest in the England international.

However, sources have told Football Insider (9 January) that Maguire is staying at Man United this month after the club rejected interest from Villa.

When asked by Football Insider if Maguire should leave Old Trafford in this transfer window, Robinson said: “You questions why Maguire cannot get into this Man United side.

“He played really well at the World Cup but then Luke Shaw has played ahead of him at United. Ten Hag has clearly got a problem with him. It is either something personal or he doesn’t rate him.

“Does Maguire need a new start, a new challenge, a new beginning? Perhaps. Maybe that would enable him to get back to his level on a regular basis.

“Ten Hag is going to be at United for a while. He is getting results. I cannot see Maguire being a part of the long-term plans there.

“I think he will be looking for pastures new. A number of clubs will be on alert if he is to leave United.”
