Hartson delivers verdict on Celtic display v Zenit, names players who blew him away

By Richard Parks
John Hartson has taken to Twitter to rave about Celtic’s performance in their 1-0 Europa League last-32 first leg win against Zenit St Petersburg on Thursday night.
The former Hoops striker was impressed with Brendan Rodgers’ team as they gave themselves a good chance of progressing into the final 16 of the European competition.
Hartson hailed an “outstanding performance” by Celtic and insisted that every single player in the team blew him away as “to a man they were superb”.

Substitute Charly Musonda played a big role in the game’s only goal as he set up the chance that Callum McGregor chested down expertly and the lashed high into the net.
The victory was Celtic’s first win at home in 12 European matches outside the qualifying phase.
They had overcome a significant injury crisis in the lead-up to the encounter in Glasgow that deprived Rodgers of such key men as striker Leigh Griffiths, goalkeeper Craig Gordon and midfielders Tom Rogic, Nir Bitton, Patrick Roberts, Stuart Armstrong and Jonny Hayes, while former RB Leipzig defender Marvin Compper is both injured and ineligible for European competition.
The second leg will be played in Russia on Thursday of next week.
