‘Harvey Elliott handed Liverpool lifeline amid transfer developments’
Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott is to be given an opportunity to stake his claim in manager Arne Slot’s starting line-up with the Reds set to lose winger Luis Diaz.
Elliott was a star performer at the Under-21 Euros for England, helping the young Three Lions retain their trophy with a 3-2 victory over Germany in the final.
The 22-year-old’s match winning displays has attracted interest from several Premier League sides as Elliott searches for more regular first team football.
Liverpool are currently on a pre-season tour of Asia where Elliott featured in the Red’s 4-2 loss to AC Milan in Hong Kong.

Opportunity beckons for Elliott
Elliott has showed his potential in spells at Liverpool, but he may now be given an extended run in the team after an offer was accepted from Bayern Munich for Diaz.
Diaz was a key performer for Liverpool in their title success last season, but the 28-year-old is now departing for a new challenge in Germany.
That opens up an opportunity for Elliott which he will be eager to take during pre-season and with the Reds’ first league match just over two weeks away.
With Mo Salah almost irreplicable on the right flank and with new signing Florian Wirtz’s best position in the number 10 role, Elliott must take the chance to make the left wing spot his own if he wants to stay at Liverpool.

Slot facing winger issues
Slot has already spent over £200m this summer and with the possible addition of Alexander Isak costing up to £150m, there may be little funds left to recruit a Diaz replacement.
Elliott has proven he can fill the void left by Diaz, and after his Euro exploits the former Fulham academy graduate deserves an opportunity.

Liverpool may regret letting the prospect leave to another Premier League club, and with Federico Chiesa set to depart and Ben Doak attracting attention from Crystal Palace, Slot would be left short of natural wingers.
The Reds’ potentially lack of depth out wide may be a concern for Slot or signal a change in formation if Isak arrives alongside the recent purchase of striker Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt.
Liverpool will be a dangerous side regardless, but Elliott could become a more valuable player than first thought at the beginning of the window.
