Harvey Elliott ‘has the bit between his teeth’ at Liverpool amid ‘new signing’ claim – pundit

Kevin Campbell has heaped praise on Harvey Elliott after Jurgen Klopp described the Liverpool midfielder as “like a new signing.”

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker said the 19-year-old “is a star” and “will be given his chance to shine next season.”

Elliott has impressed for the Reds during pre-season games against Man United and Crystal Palace.

As quoted by Anfield Watch (15 July), Klopp insisted there is “no need” for the club to sign a midfielder this summer.

He claimed Elliott is “like a new signing” following a 2021-22 campaign characterised by an ankle injury sustained at Leeds United.

When asked by Football Insider if he had high hopes for the attacking midfielder, Campbell said: “Last season I was so excited about him coming back.

“The way he plays, his attitude, this boy is a star.

“He has got the bit between his teeth right now. He knows he can do the business and he knows that if he gets the chances he can make a difference.

“In pre-season has looked really good and sharp. I think the injury has made him refocus. Sometimes an injury can do that to you. It makes you appreciate your position. I think that has happened to him.

“He is in a really good position and I’m sure he will be given chances to shine next season.”
