Harvey Elliott, James McAtee react to Omari Hutchinson as Ipswich Town exit looms

Harvey Elliott and James McAtee have reacted to a new post by Omari Hutchinson as he nears the exit door at Ipswich Town.

Hutchinson’s side endured a tough season last time out, as they were unable to stay in the Premier League despite being tipped to perform well following a stellar Championship campaign.

He joined Ipswich last summer from Chelsea for a fee of £20million [BBC], and he impressed under Kieran McKenna, so looks to be set to move again soon after Football Insider recently revealed that Hutchinson has a £35m release clause in his Tractor Boys contract.

The 21-year-old has been featuring in the Under-21 European Championships amid interest in his signature, and he helped England U21 to win a successive title on Saturday (28 June) as he netted in their 3-2 final win over Germany U21.

Hutchinson takes to social media as West Ham and Everton prepare to swoop

Former West Ham scout Mick Brown revealed to Football Insider on 30 June that the Hammers are interested in a move to sign Hutchinson this summer, while BBC Sport have also claimed that Everton are also interested in the Tractor Boys star as they look to overhaul their squad.

The tricky winger has not had his mind on transfers over the last few weeks however, with a starring role in England U21’s second Euro success under Lee Carsley, and he took to Instagram on Monday (30 June) evening to post a reel of his best moments in Slovakia for the Young Lions.

Hutchinson’s post was reacted to by a number of his England teammates, with Brighton-linked Liverpool forward Harvey Elliott commenting: “Star” with a star emoji, while James McAtee, who could leave Manchester City for Nottingham Forest soon, replied saying: “So so good !!”

The 21-year-old’s post was also reacted to by Ipswich teammate Sammie Szmodics, as he commented with a fire emoji, while Jobe Bellingham, Jack Hinshelwood, Tyler Morton and Samuel Iling Jr all left a like in response.

Hutchinson would be a smart signing for West Ham or Everton

Football Insider verdict

Even though his statistics of three goals and two assists in 32 league games last term are not the greatest, Hutchinson was one of Ipswich’s most influential players throughout the campaign, and certainly showed that he feels at home in the top-flight.

His pedigree will be what makes interest from West Ham and Everton grow stronger, having played in the academies of both Arsenal and Chelsea, while he even played twice for the Blues’ senior team before his initial loan move to Portman Road in 2023.

Hutchinson’s Ipswich career record

He is also versatile, as he can play on either wing and at number 10, while he is surely not done progressing to be the best version of himself as a player at just 21-years-old, so clubs will want to unlock his lofty potential.

Hutchinson’s £35m value does seem somewhat steep at this stage of his career, but he has already shown that he is too good for the Championship with 16 combined goal involvements as Ipswich went up last year, so it would not come as a shock if he looks to force a move away in the coming months.
