Harvey Elliott: Liverpool midfielder tipped to start v Cardiff after footage emerges – pundit

Kevin Campbell has tipped Harvey Elliott to make his return from injury on Sunday when Liverpool take on Cardiff City in the FA Cup.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Arsenal and Everton striker said the 18-year-old is “a quick healer” and could even start at Anfield.

Elliott has been sidelined with an ankle injury since Liverpool’s 3-0 win at Leeds United in mid-September.

The attacking midfielder returned to first-team training last month and has been working his way back to full fitness during the break.

As captured by Anfield Watch Academy (30 January), Elliott scored and grabbed two assists in a behind closed doors game against Wrexham.

According to The Athletic‘s James Pearce (2 February), the teenager is “on the brink” of a return to first-team action.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs if Sunday’s FA Cup tie was the perfect game for Elliott to return, Campbell said:

“It would be amazing if Elliott makes his return this weekend. It would bring the feel-good factor to Anfield. The Liverpool fans cannot wait just to see him back out on the pitch.

“He’s a quick healer. He’s done well to come back so quickly from a horrendous injury.

“I think he could start this weekend. At the very least, I think he will on the bench.

“He will get a rapturous reception when he does come back, that’s for sure. I can’t wait to see this gifted young man get his career back on track.”
