Harvey Elliott reacts to Jarell Quansah’s message as Liverpool exit gets green light
Jarell Quansah and Harvey Elliott’s time as Liverpool team-mates looks set to come to an end after their exploits for England Under-21s.
Liverpool have been busy in the transfer market as Arne Slot bids to maintain their momentum from last season’s Premier League success, which saw the Reds canter to their 20th title with four games to play.
Jeremie Frimpong’s arrival provides Liverpool with an immediate replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back, while his Bayer Leverkusen team-mate Florian Wirtz has also signed for a club-record fee.
Elliott struggled for consistent game-time last season with just two Premier League starts among his 28 appearances in all competitions, and Wirtz‘s arrival will push him even further down the pecking order.

Quansah sends ‘soon’ message as Liverpool exit beckons
Elliott’s lack of minutes has seen several Premier League sides queue up with prospective bids to sign him, but one club further afield are on the brink of completing a deal for his team-mate Quansah.
Leverkusen are set to spend £30m on Quansah in the wake of Frimpong and Wirtz’s moves the other way, but England’s progress in the Under-21 European Championships will be his sole focus at present.
Quansah played a key role for Lee Carsley‘s side as they beat Spain 3-1 on Saturday to reach the semi-finals, and England doubled their early lead when his long-range shot was parried into Elliott’s path.
After Elliott tapped home from close range to make it 2-0 and the Young Lions saw out the win thanks to Elliot Anderson’s late penalty, Quansah took to Instagram (21 June) with the message: “Get in!! Semi final SOON”.
Elliott was quick to comment with a ‘side-eyes’ emoji, as well as the message of “assist” to thank Quansah for how his goal came about.
Quansah and Elliott to begin Liverpool exodus
Football Insider revealed on 20 June that Quansah was undergoing a medical with Bayer Leverkusen ahead of his move from Liverpool, and his exit is expected to kick-start their hunt for a new centre-back.
Wirtz’s arrival adds to Slot’s options in the final third to say the least, but with Liverpool also keen on a left winger this summer, it’s expected that the German international will be deployed through the middle.
That’s likely to spell the end of any hopes Elliot has of playing regularly next season, but after he rejected a move to Europe-bound Nottingham Forest, it remains to be seen where the 22-year-old’s future lies.
