Harvey Elliott ruled out until November after Liverpool scans – sources

Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott is set to be out for six weeks after fracturing his foot while with England’s Under-21s.

Sources have told Football Insider the 21-year-old is set to be out until November and will miss a period in which the Merseysiders play seven times in just under four weeks.

Elliott was forced to withdraw from interim manager Ben Futcher’s squad after picking up the injury in training ahead of their 4-1 friendly win over Austria.

Scans at Liverpool’s training centre have identified a broken foot and the player is now set for an extended period of rest and rehabilitation.

The versatile midfielder has only played seven minutes under new manager Arne Slot so far, but could now be a significant loss for the Dutchman given their congested fixture list.

Of Elliott’s 53 appearances across all competitions for Liverpool last season, only 27 were from the starting whistle.

Still, he proved to be a useful squad player for Jurgen Klopp in his last season as manager of the Merseyside club, scoring four goals and providing 11 assists.

Elliott is England Under-21’s top scorer with seven goals in six games, as they sit five points behind Ukraine in their Euro Under-21 qualification group.

Futcher’s side have the opportunity to close the gap on Wednesday (September 11) as they face the group leaders but will have to be without their star man.

Liverpool kick off their busy next few weeks with a home game against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, September 14th.
