Harvey Elliott sends message to Mohamed Salah after big Liverpool development
Harvey Elliot has sent his Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah a message following his historic achievement during their Champions League win against Lille.
The Reds defeated the French outfit 2-1 on Tuesday (21 January) to guarantee an unbeaten finish to the Champions League group stage following goals from Elliot and Salah.
The result guaranteed Arne Slot’s men would finish top of the Champions League table after winning all seven games, conceding only two goals in the process.
However, it was a historic night for the Egypt international as he scored his 50th European goal for the football club.
Salah is already the club’s all-time record scorer in Europe, but he reached a half-century against Lille in what was his 45th Champions League goal in his 73rd appearance in the competition.
Salah’s five other European goals came in the Europa League across nine appearances last season.
Harvey Elliot is proud of his Liverpool teammate
The achievement was one that Salah’s fellow goalscorer wanted to celebrate as Elliot took to Instagram to say, “Congratulations brother! Big 50.”

The goal pushed Salah nine goals ahead of the previous record holder Steven Gerrard as he continues to showcase his impact at the club.
Salah’s future at Anfield still remains uncertain as his current contract is due to expire at the end of the season.
The 32-year-old is currently able to discuss pre-contract agreements with foreign clubs.
