Hasselbaink delivers verdict on Leeds promotion chances, blown away by senior ace (not Wood)

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is confident that his former side Leeds can gain promotion to the Premier League through the play-offs.
The former Elland Road striker revealed he has also been blown away by the “exceptional” job done by manager Garry Monk.
Leeds currently sit in fourth place after Friday night’s 3-1 win against Birmingham City, seven points away from the automatic promotion places.
Although Hasselbaink believes the top two is a step too far for Monk’s Yorkshire giants, the Dutchman believes Leeds have a real chance in the play-offs thanks to the work of Garry Monk.
“I think they’ll definitely be in the playoffs, but we all know that it’s a lottery at the end of the season,” Hasselbaink told Sky Sports’ Premier League Daily Show on Monday.

“I think Monk has done an exceptional job at Leeds, he’s stuck with it and brought younger players through.
“It’s in Leeds DNA, I think they have a huge chance of gaining promotion. They’re not the best team, but I don’t think they’re the worst team either. They have a real chance in the playoffs.”
Leeds have recovered from a mid-season blip with three wins in their last four games under Monk, including wins against Bristol City, Sheffield Wednesday and most recently Birmingham.
Monk, who celebrated his 38th birthday on Monday, has masterminded a promotion push with the Whites this season, defying pre-season expectations.
The former Champions League side will be hoping to go even better on Tuesday night, as they face Slavisa Jokanovic’s in-form Fulham side at Craven Cottage.
Three points against London outfit Fulham could see Leeds close the gap between themselves and the automatic promotion places to just four points if Brighton lose to Rotherham.
Hasselbaink, 44, played for Leeds between 1997 and 1999 and scored 42 goals in just 87 league and cup appearances before leaving to join Atletico Madrid.
