John Hartson is expecting Celtic’s trip to Ibrox on Sunday to be a tough one and believes his old side can make the Light Blues look foolish.
He also commented on the whole dressing-room saga by saying it may have been a poor judgement call as the Hoops could show Graeme Murty’s side up.
As quoted in The Daily Record, Hartson said of the incident: “It was brave from Graeme, that’s for sure.
“We’ll find out on Sunday if he was naive to say it because Celtic have the ability to make him look a fool. If he gets it right and Rangers get the result he’ll get all the plaudits for giving his side confidence.”
The Light Blues certainly haven’t been shy about talking up their chances in this derby which has an added edge to it given the club’s resurgence under Murty.
Victory for the Gers will see the gap at the top cut to three points and pressure piled on Brendan Rodgers’ men.
Football Insider verdict:
Hartson’s bias is clear with these comments and the Hoops ability to make Rangers look foolish is questionable. Rodgers’ side may be pushing for their second consecutive treble but they aren’t the prospect they were last season when they had no one to challenge them. They were given a real stuffing against Hearts back in December and unlike last season where they looked invincible, this season they look as though they can be got at. Celtic will not make Rangers look foolish on Sunday but it’s going to be a tight and aggressive affair.
