Paul Robinson gushed about Liverpool enforcer Dejan Lovren following his recent run of form.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the former Tottenham shot-stopper admitted that he previously doubted the centre-back as he revealed he has never been one of his biggest fans.
Lovren has enjoyed a run in Jurgen Klopp’s team as of late with the 30-year-old centre-back playing every minute of his side’s last five Premier League matches.
Robinson admitted that you have to give credit when it’s due and acknowledged that the Croatian was playing well this year.
When asked about Lovren continuing to submit standout performances, Robinson told Football Insider: “Lovren, I’ve not been one of his biggest fans but you have to give credit when it’s due.
“He’s playing well this year and it helps to have someone like Van Dijk next to you, as he does lead.
“And you know that when you have someone of that level or that quality next to you, it makes you feel like you have to up your game, and be right on your game as well, especially with the way Liverpool are and where they’re heading as no one wants to let that side down.”
Lovren started the 2019/20 season on the fringes of the Reds’ squad as he failed to feature in any of the club’s opening seven league outings.
The 30-year-old centre-back has been at Anfield since arriving from Southampton in 2014 and has racked up a total of 179 appearances for the club.
In other Liverpool news, a Football Insider pundit has tipped a 29-year-old to be able to cure a Klopp headache.
