Arsenal club legend Ian Wright believes that Henrik Mkhitaryan will show the Premier League his true ability at the Emirates, after falling down the pecking order at Manchester United.
Speaking on Sky Sports ‘The debate’, as quoted by The Mirror, the former England international claimed that the atmosphere at Arsenal will allow the Armenian to be successful,
“We know that Mourinho can get the hump with some players and it isn’t a bad thing if he blows you out – we’ve seen it with De Bruyne and Salah – but you are hoping he can come to Arsenal, a much more friendlier environment, in terms of the manager and hopefully he can thrive in that.”
Mkhitaryan is a former Bundesliga ‘Player of the year’ winner, and looked dangerous at times at Old Trafford, but never managed to make a true impact on Mourinho, and Wright believes the 29-year-old is still finding his feet,
“Unfortunately we haven’t seen the best of him at Manchester United. He is still trying to find his feet here.”
Wenger will be hoping he can serve as an immediate replacement to Alexis Sanchez, although fans will have to wait for his debut, as the 29-year-old is cup tied so cannot play this evening.
However, Wright thinks that the Gunners are lucky to have landed Mkhitaryan in the first place following poor summer transfer business,
“They have really fallen on their feet and will be happy for small mercies,
“It was terrible business from Arsenal last summer, they should have let him go. Sanchez has had all the cards and Arsenal are very fortunate they are able to get Mkhitaryan.
In other Arsenal news, it has been exclusively revealed that the Gunners are ready to ship this central midfielder out on loan.
