‘He gets away with murder’ – Man United fans explode at star who lost possession 16 times vs Wolves
Ruben Amorim has yet another issue on his hands following the dreadful performance of one of his biggest stars against Wolves on Tuesday.
Man United are without Bruno Fernandes, Matthijs De Ligt, and Harry Maguire, as well as several players due to AFCON, and the lack of depth was blatant at Old Trafford on 30 December.
After Ladislav Krejci’s first-half equaliser, Wolves claimed an important point against Man United at the bottom of the Premier League table, having cancelled out Joshua Zirkzee‘s opener.
Patrick Dorgu fell asleep at the back post to allow the Old Gold to score, but that was the least of the Red Devils’ worries at Old Trafford, with fans clashing with players at the full-time whistle.
Matheus Cunha was seen remonstrating with the crowd left behind at full-time, but after an invisible display during the 90 minutes, the big-money signing has been told to turn the mirror to himself.
Man United fans out for blood after draw vs Wolves
After watching the attacker lose possession 16 times [Sofascore], one supporter fumed that Cunha “gets away with murder,” while the likes of Zirkzee get hooked during the half-time break.
With so many players either sidelined or on international duty, the Brazilian was expected to fill their shoes, but with just three goals and an assist, fans are beginning to lose patience.
Another supporter has even called for a new signing to replace the former Wolves man, while a third expressed their hate for Cunha in an online rant after the game.
- @UtdDremzzy: “We might have to sign another LW, lads. I don’t think I can continue with Cunha stinkers.”
- @Tellysea: “I have never seen such a useless player like Cunha. I don’t think I have hated a player like that ever in man utd shirt. He’s such a useless player.”
- @wealth_united_: “Getting rid of Rashford for Cunha was the biggest mistake we ever made as a club. We can’t keep on pretending.”
Matheus Cunha’s performance by numbers at Old Trafford
As well as losing possession countless times, the forward created zero chances against the team at the bottom of the league, failed to register a shot on target, and completed zero dribbles [FotMob].
While he was the most fouled player in the game, he failed to do much with that, losing 45 per cent of his ground duels, as well as 100 per cent of his aerial duels, all while misplacing all five of his crosses.
Benjamin Sesko was not free from criticism either, having missed multiple clear-cut chances to score just his third United goal, but those around him were just as bad, if not worse.
Cunha is currently the driving force in United’s attack, with Fernandes injured and Bryan Mbeumo away, but he has not taken on the responsibility, and his clash with the fans will not help in the slightest.
There appeared to be a sliver of hope against Newcastle United, but any signs have now quickly dispersed following the Old Gold’s visit.
