'He Has Bags of Talent' - Exclusive: McAvennie raves about Celtic 'Boy' set to play tonight
Frank McAvennie has heaped praise on Mikey Johnston after the Celtic attacker declared himself “100 per cent fit” ahead of tonight’s game against Ross County.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops and St Mirren striker said that the 21-year-old has “bags of talent” and is a “breath of fresh air” after a difficult start to the season.
Johnston missed the first four months of the 2020/21 campaign after he underwent surgery on a knee injury suffered last January.

He made his return to action against Kilmarnock earlier this month and was handed more minutes in Sunday’s dramatic penalty-shootout win over Hearts in the Scottish Cup Final.
In the build-up to tonight’s must-win Scottish Premiership fixture against Ross County, the winger declared himself “100 per cent fit” and he is set to make the matchday squad.
McAvennie is excited by the return of Johnston, especially with James Forrest still sidelined due to injury.

“Johnston is something different and it is great to see,” he told Football Insider.
“The first thing he did on Sunday was a step-over. He looked to get it by the player and get it in the box and I said, ‘Well done.’
“He is not the big star that we need but he is a breath of fresh air.
“In the past he has done too much and been too greedy but he is only a boy, he is learning.
“He has bags of talent and we need him. He has that trickery, he can go by players. The more players like that the better because we are missing Forrest so much.”
